Log;

Getting out of the City proper was a good idea, best idea someone could have suggested actually. Shalimar was grateful that Kirk actually didn't mind the outdoors, staying around a bunch of people would have really gotten to her right now. At least she'd gotten most of her anger and sadness out last night, that was something, even if her method had left her looking a bit beaten up. But that was one of the nice things about being around Kirk, he wouldn't make a big deal about her being slightly injured, which made it easier to relax a bit.

Not that her mind didn't wander to what had happened yesterday, it did. Even as they walked together looking for a good camping spot her mind was somewhere else, trying to suppress a bunch of different instincts and thoughts that were driving her nuts. So she walked in silence hoping that he'd say something to snap her attention away from the crap going on right now.

"You probably shouldn't sing that song," he said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Because I know you can't fly a ship as well as me, let alone better."

"Uh huh, crashing into things? That's what I thought," he said with a smirk before chuckling a bit. "And you think you can ride better than me?"

"Right, it's not so bad because someone else was just as horrible a pilot as you," he mocked, amused at her grumbling. "And I don't get scared by going too fast or too reckless."

"Just because someone else is just as bad as you doesn't mean you're not horrible," Kirk said with a shake of his head. "And from the way it sounds like you drive, I probably would be scared."

"Right, you shouldn't learn how to do more than one thing," he said, shrugging a bit. "If your teammates were incapacitated and it was up to you to fly the jet... hey, it's not your thing to learn.

Kirk couldn't help but grin more. "Some people don't heal up nearly as quickly or as nicely as others."

"Right, I wouldn't know anything about teamwork," he said, giving an exaggerated nod. "The thousands of people I have working under me all just wander around crazy."

He arched an eyebrow. "You mean learn to heal faster?"

"I have my bridge crew, we're a well oiled machine," he said, shaking his head. It wasn't worth discussing with her, he didn't think she would get it.

"I don't think it works that way. Hey, look, this is perfect for a camp," he said.

"Yeah, like that," he said, hoping she wouldn't push the topic too much. Kirk had found if she didn't agree with or understand something right away, it was a nightmare to try and convince her of it and half the time they just agreed not to talk about it anyways.

"Perfect," he added with a nod. "Relatively dry over there with a bit of a hill we can set up the tent at."

"I just don't think you'd understand is all," he said, shaking his head.

"And I think I can set it up just fine."

"Your team is a family, we're not that," he said, shaking his head as he pulled of his pack and began to get out the tent. "But that doesn't mean we don't work as well together. We just... mesh. We're not all perfect, but we're a perfect fit for each other."

"Part of ours was our training," Kirk said as he began to slide the tent poles into the fabric of the tent. "But more than that, it was the fact that if we didn't work that well together not only would we die, but the entire Earth would be destroyed. All of them are exceptional, I couldn't ask for a better crew."

"It's fine, I've got it," he said, shaking his head as he finished setting all the poles. The next order of business was to shovel away the snow and leave them with a dry patch of ground.

"You just sit there and look good."
