Spring Festival [OPEN TO ALL!]
When; Friday, April 6 2012, afternoon into night
Rating; Various! Warn if you need to on individual threads.
Characters; EVERYONE EVER!
Summary; Spring festival
Log;
Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.
People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.
As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.
(OOC: As mentioned here please feel free to have your character/business set up a booth or stand or to be performing under the appropriate headings! They can be doing if for money, free, or charity. General Mingle | Booths: Games/Merchandise | Food Stands | Entertainment/Street Performers | Dance)

It appears to be a shooting gallery for fun, entertainment, and prizes. Complete with cut-out ducks.
...should he?]

Lookin' down at you, kid (not unkindly, though--just sorta perplexed as to why this kid is talking to him).]
Yeah?

Guess you must be Ivy.

And...were you gonna tell me what that means?
[He's really just curious is all.]

Especially if it means he gets a brightly colored stuffed animal as a prize. ]
Well, go on.
[ Hi cowboy, she's behind you. ]
no subject
A slooooow turn over his shoulder to see who's talking to him. Not that he needs to look. Or that he's all that surprised.
The fellow running the booth is no help either, really.]
You think I should?
no subject
[ There's a nod, as if that will somehow confirm it.
Then, in a stage whisper, ]
Besides, you never know if these things are rigged. You should test it out.
[ The man running the booth might have squawked slightly at that. ]
no subject
Maybe.
[But, still, he turns back to the game (with all its ducks and deer and other nonsense) and hunts around in the pocket of his jeans to find the right colored coin--which he tosses it over to the man in the booth.]
You think it's rigged?
[...he asks over his shoulder.]
no subject
[ It doesn't hurt to admit it. ]
Like I said, you should test it.
no subject
He takes this decision seriously. If you really want to know, some of the barrels are, in fact, curved--but not by much. More like they're just badly made toys. So it's rigged, but maybe not purposefully.
But, still, after due consideration, he chooses one...and set himself up...
If he can shoot down a noose from more than a short distance, this shouldn't be too difficult.
But that's no reason to take it too lightly. After all, his reputation is on the line here...]
no subject
There's a bit of a shift to his side as she shifts closer to get a better look. If he's going to do it, she wants to see the targets go down. ]

The bell rings--
--and no sooner has it but those painted cut-outs of ducks and deer and dragons and men in black hats with drooping mustaches start popping out of nowhere...and falling back down again.
Maybe it's not fair to let him play this game. But he hasn't had a chance to show off for a while. Feels pretty good.]

[He points vaguely at one of the painted ducks.]
Seems that one's wanted in five counties.
no subject
And it's your job to bring him down?
[She laughs at that.]
no subject
But they'll pay me to do it.
no subject
I think you pay them for this game.
no subject
Seems like that always happens. One way or another.
