Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

[ Blonde has his hands in his pockets and a toothpick in his mouth, looking more or less unimpressed by the whole deal, but there's a note of amusement in his voice. ]

That'd solve my problem, at least.

[ Turning towards him with a shrug and a self-deprecating grin, a note of laughter at herself in her voice. ]

You could take it home, put it in a bowl.

[ There's a bit of a grin of his own, lips tilted up. ]

If it's fair food you're after, though, I'd try the funnel cakes.

Not really interested in having a fish for a pet. Pretty sure the cat'd eat it.

Funnel cakes, huh? Yeah, I might. I don't even like fish sticks that much.

Pour sugar on them. They're good. [ The funnel cakes, not the fish sticks. ]

The Doctor dragged one in, yeah.

You an expert on funnel cakes?

The Doctor? [ There's a bit of a raised eyebrow. Sorry Amy, he's not exactly too social, and therefore has no idea who any of the three Doctors are. ]

My best friend. Well. The one of them that's my best friend. [ Having a hand around vaguely. ]

In that case, mister, you now have the great honour of educating me in the way of funnel cakes. C'mon.

There's more than one? [ wat.

She gets a chuckle, and he follows. Funnel cakes are, after all, delicious, even if Carla can do justice to food much better than he can. ]

Three of him here, yeah. And I think there's been eleven, now.

... [ Yeah, he's not going to ask. ] Huh.

[ That's okay, they've reached the funnel cake stand. ] So. Educate me, o wise one.

Right, well, you have to get your funnel cake first. [ Grinning again. ]

Really. [ Hands on her hips. You're a smartass, aren't you? ] There's a line. Give me the rundown, already, yeah?

[ Yes, sometimes. ] There's plain, which is all right. The classic is covered with powdered sugar. Some people put brown sugar, cinnamon, jam, fruit with whipped cream... that sort of thing on it.

What's your favourite?

Powdered sugar. Fruit can fuck it up, if it's bad quality.

And if it's good quality?

Well, then it's good. But it's hit or miss.

Strawberries, if I have any.

[ Ordering one powdered sugar and one strawberry one. You get to eat the one she likes less. Be thankful, yeah. ]

Amy'll just take a large - and rather unladylike, if you must know - bite of the powdered one.
