To hell with being sensible and responsible. That's what they talked about last time, how they both grew up too fast and now they deal with things the way people much older do. Bucky hates it in a way that sets his teeth on edge, that made him burn the picture of her brothers with the flame of a match. He meant to come by sooner.

Work caught up with him though and it's only now with the rare evening off that he comes by her office. He's got a bottle wrapped in brown paper and tucked into his leather jacket, two glasses in his pockets because Ginny is a classy lady and he's not gonna make her swig out of it like he would. ( Because Bucky never had class, what would he do with it. ) The shop's closed but not locked so he lets himself in, takes the steps to her office, calling out as he goes.

"You better be in here Weasley, I come bearing gifts."

[She laughs then lifts his hand to her lips and presses a loud kiss to the back of it then pats him as she sets him back down.]

Just poured yourself another. How rude of me t'make you take me home right away.

[ He snorts at that, leans back in his seat. ]

Guess we'll have to see if you can make it then, huh?

[She laughs and actually snorts with it.]

What's that even mean?

When I drink vodka - which this ain't, thankfully - I tend to fight people.

Mm, no. Only fight when I need to.

[Very seriously,]

I have fabulous aim. [She outstretches her right arm like she's got her wand in it (she knows to not pick it up when she's like this), one eye closed like she's aiming.] Zap. Right through windows, down into a crowd. Didn't stand a chance.

[And they've arrived at a memory of the final battle. She realises it and frowns, then drops her arm and goes for his glass since he didn't refill hers.]

[ Snagging that right on back. ]

I'm older'n you, kid. Age before beauty. [ He takes a gulp, then looks at her thoughtfully. ] Guess I always forget your ... stick thing can be as deadly as a gun.

[hexuality]

[Not before she takes another sip, spilling it with a laugh when he takes the glass away from her lips. She wipes it away with her thumb, sucking the liquor from it then rolling her eyes.]

Wand, Bucky, honestly. And yeah. Not a toy, should be careful.

I'm not gonna touch it.

[ He's not really a fan of things he can't understand himself anyway. ]

[And then she starts giggling a little uncontrollably because 1) drunk and 2) dirty wand jokes.]

Is that— [Gasping laughter, leaning back in her chair to the point where it almost tips over.] Is that a wand in your pocket or are you just... [CAN'T STOP.] Just happy to see me?

You guys actually use that line?

[ Ginny, he's so disappointed in the Wizarding World right now. ]

No.

[Stop it, Bucky, she can't stop laughing.]

Always wanted to. 'S ghastly.

Yeah, it's kinda terrible. I thought you Brits were s'posed to be good at being charming.

[hexuality]

You want charming?

[Excuse her while she almost spills right out of her chair in her haste to get out of it, coming around the desk and imitating a (mildly unsteady) curtsy—she practiced on real royalty right here in the City, don't you know—and extends a hand.]

Care for a dance, sir?

[Either she's quite drunk or she's playing it up. Either way, she's ridiculous.]

[ His bubble of laughter is sharp and sweet as he rises. ] Sure, I guess I can dance.

[hexuality]

[She looks so pleased, damn it. Seems like it'll always be men from the 1940s teaching her how to dance (she remembers Peter Pevensie with a quiet pang in her heart) and she wouldn't have it any other way. Ginny slides her wand from her desk and flicks it at the record player the twins left behind because that's what they're used to, old fashioned things held together by magic, and comes into Bucky's arms like she knows precisely what she's doing.

And she does, in her way, though he's steadying her now since the alcohol has settled in her bones.]

Are you charmed yet?

Maybe a little.

[ He's danced with dozens of dames in the past, girls he's swept off their feet, waltzed around cobble stones and jitterbugged all the way home. This is familiar. ]

You dance okay for a modern gal.

[hexuality]

Was taught by someone from your time.

[She learned back home for the Yule Ball and for her brother's wedding but she's been to more balls and parties in the City than anywhere else. So this is where she honed her dance floor skills.]

See? Charming Brit. That's what I am.

Kind of an oxymoron there, kid.

[ Charming Brit. He's a jerk. ]

[TRYING TO LEAD THIS DANCE. It's not a good idea. She steps on his foot and almost falls over.]

Teach me how to swing dance.

[ He laughs, holds her up. ] It's a little too enthusiastic and you're drunk.

I can fly when I'm pissed, you don't think I can dance?

[Looping her arms around his neck and using that for support, okay? Okay. And yes, Bucky, she's gotten quietly drunk on the beach and gone flying by herself. Coping, you know. She's so good at it.]

I don't think you can dance with me when you're drunk, darling.

[ He's smiling though. ] Yeah, you were.

[Tutting under her breath, leaning back so that he takes most of her weight. They're not so much dancing as spinning in a circle, but that's alright with her.]

Very stupid. And you— [WHO PUT THAT BAG THERE. She stumbles again and laughs, cheeks flushing.] Mm. Okay. Maybe 'm pissed.
