Mingle Log!

When; July 5th through July 7th!
Rating; G+
Characters; Open to ALL, 4th Wallers and Citizens!
Summary; The celebrations continue, and the Anonymous regime has summoned guests that Citizens might (not) prove very thrilled to see! As opposed to other Fourth Wall events, all visiting characters will have been invited to the City, or they must arrive here of their own will.

Mingle! Explore~!

Log;

There's so much to do and so much to see in this City of cities. From tromping through Xanadu, long walks along the shore, shopping in the Square, hunting in the forest, meeting a contact in the Underground, or getting as many answers as possible at the Welcoming Center how can anyone decide on just one. In three days time so much can be done!

Shops and restaurants are having specials. Happy hour has become happy days in some bars. This is quite the occasion! When the City decides to celebrate, it becomes contagious. Why not smile and strike up a conversation with a stranger? After all, a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet.

[Being on a starship certainly puts restrictions on a person's off-duty company. Not that McCoy minds too much; he's not the most sociable of people.]

I usually end up talking to myself--a younger version of myself. It's not as unsettling as it sounds.

[He seems sociable enough. Possibly this is because her standards are skewed.

She arches an eyebrow.]

Do you find yourself good conversation?
countrydoctor: (As your doctor...)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-20 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, McCoy can be perfectly charming on occasion...]

There are people I'd never admit this to, but no, I don't. Having a conversation with someone who'll answer just the way you would leaves something to be desired.

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-21 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
I can't imagine you'd learn anything new,

[she agrees. At least the elder McCoy.]

But at least you wouldn't have much to argue about.

People don't usually make progress by being agreeable, Morgan.
first_officer: (004)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-21 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, but being on vacation is hardly about progress.

[He settles back in his chair, more relaxed now than he ever has a chance to be on the Enterprise. No crises to deal with, no captains to look after, no Vulcans to argue with... it'd get boring after a few days.]

I suppose you're right. It's been so long since I took a proper vacation--I don't know if I remember how.
first_officer: (002)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-21 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Perhaps that's why vacations tend to come in small doses.]

By the time you figure it out, we'll all be home, I'm sure.

[No wonder they're limited to a handful of weeks each year.]

That's the way of these things, I suppose.
first_officer: (003)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-21 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Which means, [and she smiles again, slightly, leaning forward as if to impart a secret,] you'll never end up without anything to do.
countrydoctor: (As your doctor...)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-21 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Not likely, now that I'm vacationing in new dimensions.

[Something about Morgan's gesture suggests an invitation to lean over slightly himself.] And how do you usually spend your shore leave?
first_officer: (010)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-22 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's been a long time since I've had one properly, honestly.

[Sad but true, even if it's partially her own fault.]

It's been a while since we've had time, and when we're docked at a starbase, there's always something to be done...
countrydoctor: (O rly)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-23 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
No one on your ship makes R&R mandatory? [Clear disapproval. That is not healthy.] If Jim doesn't see to it that his crew gets the rest they need, I'll make him pull the ship over.
first_officer: (012)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-23 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[The mental image almost makes her laugh. She shakes her head slightly.]

Most of the crew is in better shape-- at least, usually, though after-- well. In my experience, captains never rest.

[And so, neither does she.]
countrydoctor: (As your doctor...)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-23 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
[He knows this well. Just the thought of henpecking Kirk into taking a break makes him tired.]

Sometimes a captain needs a doctor who'll make him rest. I'm not having any captain of mine running around exhausted.
first_officer: (005)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-23 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Trying that with Captain Pike... well, it's not that he mistrusts her advice on a professional level, but she rather doubts he'd listen to that. Christopher is harder on himself than anyone else.]

You're a credit to your Enterprise.
countrydoctor: (Amused)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-23 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I do alright for an old country doctor.

[With Kirk, a certain stubbornness is almost as important as medical expertise; he can't take too much credit for a trait like that. Still, he'll take that compliment.]

I could say the same to you. Any captain you find yourself with after your service on the Enterprise will have a fine fist officer.
first_officer: (008)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-23 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Treasure it, Leonard, she doesn't hand compliments out easily.

He'd get along well enough with Boyce, she thinks. There's some element of likeness between them-- something she's too gracious to think of as old fashioned-- but McCoy, she thinks, would be less inclined to let Christopher wallow. That would be an improvement.]

It's funny-- I've never given much thought to that. Where I might go next.
countrydoctor: (Jim...)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-23 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
[No one wallows on McCoy's watch! Except for McCoy. He allows himself a certain amount of wallowing when things get ugly and the weight of the lives he can't save becomes too heavy to drown out.]

You'll be aiming for your own ship eventually, I suppose.
first_officer: (004)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-23 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll admit, I'm a little disappointed to learn I won't get the Enterprise when Captain Pike moves on.

[A little disappointed, but not terribly surprised. Maybe that's pessimistic. She doesn't let herself wallow. Usually. Right now, at least, she's not; it seems the definition of spilt milk.]
countrydoctor: (Amused)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-23 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe things'll play out differently. [Not said as a comfort to her, since she doesn't seem to need that. It's more like idle musing.] With all of these universes popping up, there's no telling what happens next in any of them.
first_officer: (011)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-23 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[She may not need it, but it's not unwelcome. In a quiet way. If he'd said it in a comforting way, she might be bothered.]

That's true-- I suppose there's no way to predict it.
countrydoctor: (O rly)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-24 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Call me old-fashioned, but I wouldn't want to know what's coming around the bend. Some things should be left to God.
first_officer: (002)

[personal profile] first_officer 2013-07-24 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I'm inclined to agree.

[But at least the company's good.]

Though I suppose I'd rather go forward than backward, if I can't stay in the right time.
countrydoctor: (Hmph)

[personal profile] countrydoctor 2013-07-24 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Given the choice between going back or going forward... well. I can think of a few things I might do differently a second time around.

[He pushes his empty glass away. Surely he hasn't had enough to drink to get maudlin already.]
