Characters; It's Ginny's birthday party and everybody Ginny knows was invited. Let's handwave that and just show up. BTW, IT'S BLACK TIE. PUT ON YOUR SUITS, BOYS.
Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

Clary loves parties. Especially parties celebrating one of her closest City friend's birthday. So she arrives pretty bouncy and excited, clutching a gift bag in her hand and looking for people she knows. Maybe she'll actually sneak an underage drink or two in. Simon would be so proud.

As it is, she just ends up looking for Ginny or Mae.

[hexuality]

Clary!

[A shout and a laugh in her greeting, waving her down from a few people away.]

I was wondering if I'd be the only redhead around here.

[cupio]

[ Clary moves closer and hugs her in greeting, a happy smile on her face. ] Happy Birthday! And no way was I leaving you to be the only ginger.

[ She grins, then hands over her present. Inside a box is a locket. Inside the locket is a rune that Clary has drawn and fitted to the necklace itself. It's almost an inside joke even though she isn't sure Ginny knows what she is. But she liked the idea of it all the same. She can't put marks on her friends but she can do something to protect them. Even if she's not sure it'll work. ] Are you having fun?

[hexuality]

[She accepts the gift with a smile and a murmured thank you but doesn't open it just yet, focusing on the conversation at hand, smiling.]

I'm having loads of fun. Everyone looks happy, fed, what's not to be pleased about? How are you?

I'm good! [ Her smile is bright and happy and even if things with Jace are a little weird right now she still has the best of friends. ]

I've missed having a reason to go out.

[hexuality]

Well, after this, let's you, me, and Mae go and do something. It'll be fun. I know a great place to go dancing?

[cupio]

That sounds amazing, let's do that!

[hexuality]

[She laughs.]

Great! It's a plan. We'll get all dressed up and fluster some boys.

[ Blushing. ]

I don't think I have anything fluster-worthy in my wardrobe.

[affectioning]

"Clary!" Look, he's in a tux. Don't make too big a deal about it. "Hey, sorry about the Truth or Dare thing..."

[cupio]

"Hey Scott."

Parties are totally her jam. Except not really she's bad at them without Simon by her side. But she's making an effort for Ginny and that's good. "Don't worry about it. You look nice."

[affectioning]

"Thanks, you too." He gives her a smile. "Have you had any champagne? It's great!" Especially, since his mother is currently being seduced by Captain Kirk.

[cupio]

"I haven't, I thought about sneaking some though."

She's too young to drink but then again, everyone here seems too young.

[affectioning]

Easy. He hands her a glass.

"Nobody's checking," he says.

[cupio]

She grins at that, takes the glass.

"Are you always a bad influence?"

[affectioning]

"Nope." He doesn't feel like he's being a bad influence. "Nobody cares. Really."

[cupio]

Taking a sip, "So, how's the animal clinic?"

Look no further! For Mae has procured them some fancy looking girly drinks, and joins Clary with a grin.

"I'm pretty sure these are alcoholic. And if they aren't I'll be having words with the organizers."

Oh Mae, leading her astray.

"Well, they smell pretty awesome so I won't complain."

[brobeforehos]

"That's the spirit!" she replies, and serves Clary her glass. There is no shadow of sadness in the corner of Mae's eyes over the people missing from this party right now, because Clary's presence makes her forget.

"How are you enjoying yourself?"

[cupio]

She's giddy, there's no secret about that. A party like this is one Clary's always dreamed of attending. Magnus' don't count if only because she had been half out of her mind then, looking for her mother. So it's nice, she feels relaxed and the alcohol burns a little on its way down.

"I like it. Have you tried some of the cakes? Awesome."

[brobeforehos]

"No, but I should remedy that, shouldn't I?"

Good, she deserved to be giddy and relaxed and looking happy. Mae's caught her at some of Clary's darkest and saddest, and it doesn't even take being a close friend to wish nothing of it on the girl - but Mae does think of herself a close friend. Keeping up the good mood will be a goal to keep.

"Where are the cakes?"

She slides her arm through Mae's and leads her to the cakes. "This is nice. We should do a lot more enjoyable things."

"We should have time for more enjoyable things, but yes. This is very nice."

She knows something is the matter with Mae, but she doesn't want to push right now. Not while they're at Ginny's birthday. So she just stops short of the rows and rows of deliciousness and smiles.

"That one's the best. It tastes like heaven," a beat, a teasing smile, "I have it on good authority."
