[ OOC: Feel free to assume your character has received an invite to the party via their inbox or word of mouth for Chekov's birthday! Everyone is welcome except you, Khan and presents are mandatory for the Enterprise's young navigator. Please tag under either section to keep the party somewhat ordered, and have fun! ]

[ but fine. fine, if you're gonna be like that. ]
Get off me before I drown, dumbass. You still don't know CPR.

[ Grousing, Jim rolls onto his back and spreads his arms, panting to catch his breath. It's nice here, aching with new bruises and a sky of stars above (even a fake one). His head falls sideways to stare. ]
We'll all get shore leave after this, I promise.

Nah, when you get back, you'd be in rehab to get some muscle back in that flimsy body of yours, kid. Meanwhile, I go straight back to your crazy five-year escapade trying to keep myself sane while you're basically running around without a leash. No shore leave whatsoever.
[ bones lies on his stomach right beside him, toes digging on sand. ]
What did you get the kid?

[ Sitting up turns him into a slouched child, scuffed in wet sand and bearing more evidence of where he is than anything he could have faked to hold onto it. That's a little scary, that he wants to. ]

[ jim, why is bones the one applying logic to this conversation? ]
no subject
Maybe.
[ On impulse, after a momentary pause, he swivels his head to say something which sticks in his throat. ]
I'm sorry I haven't gotten us home already.

[ he pulls at jim's arm to get him on his back again. ]
No one's expecting you to perform miracles over and over again, Jim.
[ sure, he'd like to go home, they all do, but they could be in worse places. at the end of the day, he's got jim as alive and well as ever, and that's pretty much all that matters to him. jim is trying his best to get them all home, and there's nothing more that bones can ask of him than he's able to give. ]

You could always stick him in a freezer. Think you can make one that's big enough?

Don't even try to suggest that to Spock. [ a pause. ] Actually, go ahead and do it. Watching him bristle at the mention of magic being real is entertaining enough.

[ which is - entire accurate. if bones and spock were commissioned to be in the same ship without jim, bones' would've gotten a transfer at the earliest convenience. or break his hippocratic oath. whichever comes first.
he grabs the offered hand and follows jim's lead, brushing wet sand off him with his free one. ]
We look like idiots.

We look like we made out like star-crossed lovers, get it right. I'm telling Spock you had your wicked way with me. Nice knowing you.

[ he grabs jim so that they're facing each other and holds his face in his hands. there's seriousness in his expression offset by the fact that one of his eyebrows is raised so far up his forehead that it almost seems like he's got none at all. ]
Let's not forget that I know all of your allergies, and if I were to shove a seaweed down your throat right now, you'd break out in hives faster than Spock can even find your cold, lifeless body that I'm going to bury under the sand if you even think about making letting those words come out of your mouth.
[ :)
then he shoves jim's face away. ]
Come on, I need another goddamn drink.

Let's finish off the barbecue, too.
[ :>!! ]

Learn to share. Other people need to eat, too.
[ falls into step beside jim easily. ]
If we're gonna go to Italy, will you take me gondola riding, too?
no subject
[ Heheheh. ]

[ win-win scenario for everyone. ]

[ Taking him with an arm draped around his neck, Jim steers them to the bonfire and back to their friends. ]
