[She leans out a bit to look over into the water, beaming.]

I've never really gone diving.

[She means you, Mr Sulu. SO YOU CAN'T SEE HER TERRIBLE FORM. Get ready for some inelegance, world.]

_{( he laughs, offers her a jaunty two-fingered salute, and then takes a graceful leap off the rocks. he tucks his limbs in tight, arms straight ahead of him, and hits the water like a torpedo. )}

[She watches him go, hands on her hips and a low, impressed whistle. Well. She's never really done something like this before but no better time to start than now in the last days of summer.]

Nicely done! Now budge over!

[She looks over to make sure he's clear, then jumps as well, not nearly as graceful but better than expected—she knows enough about aerodynamics to streamline her body against the wind and she manages not to bellyflop. That's a win in her book.]

_{( he pushes back in the water, giving her a few yards of space. he treads water until she hits the ocean, then smiles with a decisive nod. )}

I'll give it a seven.

[She surfaces, pushing her hair from her face, dark red with water. She hears him then makes an indignant sound coupled with a laugh, splashing him.]

Wow, thanks. [A seven is good.] Born seventh, always a seven.

_{( he ducks under the water for five seconds before coming up for air, water arcing out around him in all directions. )}

Seven's a lucky number, isn't it?

...wait. You have six siblings? _{( that's a lot. )}

[SPLASHING HIM AGAIN.]

Yes. [She grins, splashing at him one more time.] Older brothers.

[But one of them is gone. :( But no need to bring the mood down with that.]

So you'd best watch out!

_{( his face scrunches as water hits him in the eyes, but he only waits a moment before retaliating. )}

I am an older brother. I think I'd probably sympathize.

[Splashing at him again and then she takes a breath and ducks under the water, swimming over to grab him round the middle because really, that's a good idea, try to drown your friend. In good fun.]
