[ OOC: Feel free to assume your character has received an invite to the party via their inbox or word of mouth for Chekov's birthday! Everyone is welcome except you, Khan and presents are mandatory for the Enterprise's young navigator. Please tag under either section to keep the party somewhat ordered, and have fun! ]
Dusk
No.
Dusk
[He doesn't feel dismissed. Quiet people can be pleasant company, and this girl isn't outright rude.]
Have we met before?
Dusk
No. [At least not in her memory banks, which are pretty reliable. But then, unless he was new sometime in the past ten months, it would have been an unlikely meet up. She doesn't get out much.]
Dusk
[After consulting the remains of his drink for his new companion's name to no avail, he adds:]
And you?
Dusk
Yin.
Dusk
Have I done something to bother you?
Dusk
No.
Dusk
Dusk
[Yep. Still confused. Not that her expression looks terribly different from five minutes ago. And Chekov might not know it, but any of her teammates might be surprised at her point, that she even said it at all, and that she observed it. Maybe she's actually trying to make a conversation. For once. Maybe.]
Dusk
[He smiles self-consciously, embarrassed for even noticing that she had been lurking.]
Also, I should thank you for coming to this party.
Dusk
I came with Pai.
Dusk
I know Pai, as well as her brother. A friend of theirs is mine, as well.
[Ah ha. Ha. He means it; he also knows that there's a chance that any mutual friend of theirs is a remorseless killer. It takes all sorts.]
Dusk
Dusk
Or not. Being friends is not necessary, if you would prefer not to be.
Dusk
[She's just not used to friends, and - at least she shouldn't have - has no preference for them.]
Dusk
[He doesn't expect real answers out of Yin, especially if she is from the same world. Still, it's banter, and as long as he's amusing himself without making her want to kill him, it's a good conversation.]
Dusk
Some have preferences.
Dusk
[If anything, Yin's limited answers are only making him more curious. At least she doesn't act like she'll kill him if he pushes too far (unlike some assassins he could name).]
But you do not. Would you tell me if you disliked my company?
Dusk
I'm incapable of disliking your company. But if asked, yes.
Dusk
[The initial teasing turns back into seriousness. He doesn't fully understand the perimeters in which Yin functions yet.]
Why are you incapable of disliking things?
Dusk
[She can't reassure Chekov that, in fact, he's so nice it would be hard to dislike him. And as for her feelings, Yin doesn't know him yet, anyway.]
Dusk
Dusk
That's changed.
