Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

[Spock charged himself with making the cake. He doesn't even show it to Angela until they've both arrived and then he sets it carefully on the table. It's chocolate, very carefully decorated with HAPPY BIRTHDAY since PLEASANT GREETINGS TO YOU ON THE DAY OF YOUR BIRTH didn't exactly fit when he tried icing. He places a few candles next to it, and then, satisfied that it's presentable, leaves it where it is. Ginny's gift is a small hand-carry purse she can use for essential items. Spock is nothing but practical.]

[He's wandering around, dressed to the nines, and attempting to locate the kitchen.]

[She sidles up to him at some point after seeing him put the cake down.]

I hear you're the one to thank for the cake.

[logistical]

[He nods at her.]

In my culture, a guest prepares food for the host.

[hexuality]

[Spock, you get the biggest smile.]

Last year, my brother and I celebrated our birthdays together and had everyone bring food from their home worlds instead of gifts.

Thank you, though! It looks delicious. D'you like baking?

[logistical]

["Like" isn't really something he does. Not openly. Ginny's not in his inner circle, even if everyone from the crew seems to know and like her.]

I have no preferences. It is science.

[Ginny's just making conversation, Spock, gosh. She nods, then leans around him to swipe a finger through the frosting near the base of the cake. Scandalous.]

Well, it's very tasty science.

[logistical]

I am gratified.

[His tone really, really doesn't show it. In fact, Ginny, you could be talking to a robot and it'd show more emotion than Spock.]

[affectioning]

[ Scott's not too far from Lydia, but she's picking at the food so he steps away to see if he can try and help. Even if he... has no idea what Spock needs. But, they haven't met yet and he kind of wants to meet Spock. ]

Hi. Do you need any help?

[logistical]

I am not in need of assistance, Mr...?

[He studies this tiny human. You all are strange.]

[affectioning]

[ Sad. He's not that tiny. And we are strange? ]

Scott. Scott McCall. Or, Mr. McCall. [ But, it makes him think of his teachers or Coach Finstock. ] You just looked like you were searching for something. [ A slow head tilt in. ] You know Jim?

[logistical]

[He inclines his head in a nod.]

Mr. McCall. [Trying to get him to use your first name is a lost cause, Scott, don't even try.] He is my Captain. You are... a friend?

[Except the way he says it makes it sound more like an accusation than a fact.]

[affectioning]

[ Sob. And now Spock will forever think of Spock as one of his horrible teachers. Or, his girlfriend's father. Ex-girlfriend's. ] Yeah! We're friends. Though, he's better friends with my best friend, Stiles. I'm friends with Dr. McCoy, too. He's helping me out with the animal shelter.

[logistical]

[Spock was a stuffy teacher before he decided to go run around on a starship making sure Jim wasn't getting in trouble so. . .]

[Eyebrow raise.]

I believe you recently acquired a parrot?

[He was a pirate. It was weird.]

[directives]

You clean up well.

[ even vulcans can cook better than she can. kathryn can't even wrangle the replicator in her quarters to do what she wants it to half the time. (first order of business when she gets back to voyager: have b'elanna look at the eps relays on that deck.) ]

[logistical]

[Spock inclines his head.]

The colour appears to suit you.

[Angela has been teaching him proper compliments 8D]

Thank you. [ progress, spock, progress! ] I thought I'd take my original colors out for a spin for a change.

[ she was a legit science officer before she switched from blue to red and made a b-line for the captain's chair. ]

[A hint of a smile. There's some faction in Starfleet (Marcus) that wanted a more military organisation, but Spock's glad they're returning to their roots: peaceful exploration.]

Speaking of colours, may I ask why command and engineering changed?

[directives]

[ she's heard all about that in her talks with your captain, spock. she sincerely hopes admiral marcus' vision is never seen through to fruition in your version of events. ]

I'm not sure, actually. [ something she could easily answer after a quick stroll through the federation database, but color changes that happened before she was born have never been relevant to her, thus the answer was never sought. ] There was a period of time where all officers wore red, even one where whites seemed to dominate the scheme. I've worn a slightly different variant of the uniform I wear now, [ and she knows starfleet's wearing yet another variant based on the doctor's trip to the prometheus and the few communiqués she's had from admiral hayes. ] but command's been red for as long as I've been in Starfleet.

[logistical]

Fascinating.

[And someone like him would find all these little details pertinent. As a Vulcan he'd probably live that long... and it's strange to think about, because of Spock Prime.]

The science track is still blue?

[medicos]

[ this is entirely new and completely weird. spock in a suit has never been on his list of Things To See. ]

You're looking comfortable.

[logistical]

[Likewise, McCoy. Spock, however, gives him an appraising look.]

As do you, Doctor. Have you eaten yet?

[medicos]

[ looking and feeling comfortable, however, are two different things. ]

Nibbled on a few things, but I've been helping the birthday girl around.

[logistical]

I was unaware Ms. Weasley required assistance of the kind.

It's what you do when you're the plus-one of the guest of honour, Spock. You tag along and mingle with her. [ EXASPERATION, THY NAME IS LEONARD MCCOY. ] If this was Uhura's birthday party, I'd just bet that you'd do the same for her.

[logistical]

[How is he supposed to know all these intricate and confusing and illogical human customs when none of you bother explaining anything!!]

However, this is not Lt. Uhura's birthday party.
