the openest log to ever open! <3
When; Evening of April Fifth
Rating; probably varying by threads
Characters; EVERYONE IS WELCOME
Summary; Big ol' open log for the grand opening of Isaak's bar~ Feel free to come and socialize, even if you don't know the guy! Hooray!
Log;
Word has been spreading, in a quiet sort of way-- a tasteful poster here, an idle comment there, a few personal invitations (with varying degrees of detail) delivered by Isaak himself, and (of course) the polite request that others pass the word along. Simple, but (one hopes) effective.
The Wolf's Den is luxurious without being overly ostentatious; it's warmly lit and comfortable in spite of its newness, with comfortable leather seating and a well-stocked, under-lit bar. No detail has been overlooked-- and, perhaps, no expense spared-- from the hardwood floor to the ornately-tiled ceiling.
There's plenty of food and drink to go around, and as the evening gets underway, Isaak is contentedly mingling among his guests, socializing and keeping an eye on things in equal parts.
So, have a drink; make some new friends. Everyone is welcome, here.

Tonight, though, the crowd is varied-- some friends and friends-of-friends, some curious strangers, some people who'd show up to any party-- so there's hardly any implication made by Andrew's presence.
And, of course, his business partner is pleased to see him.
"Well," he says with a smile. "I do hope it meets with your approval."
no subject
"It does. I'm particularly fond of the decoration."
This is no small compliment; bars and clubs are generally too gaudy for his taste, but this one has struck a nice balance.

[ That's Li's default response -- and there's evidence to back his claim up. The clock of his plate is laden with snacks one moment, cleared the next, a cyclical game of empty-full without limit. It'd be easy to dismiss the boy as either a starveling or a glutton. But the truth is: that's how much he eats. And it's the one honest trait about him. He's not playing at anything tonight, but that doesn't mean he's slipping off 'Li's easygoing mask to be himself. He's in something that's neat but plain -- buttondown shirt and khakis. (Never unarmed though; there's a set of throwing knives strapped to his spine under his shirt, and a garroting wire hidden in his wristwatch). By habit, he's familiarized himself with the bar's layout before shuffling in -- exits, entrances, service doors, windows. Positioned at the corner, back to the wall, Li plays the shy wallflower. But this spot affords him with an uninterrupted view of the bar's interior. ]
[ He's curious to see which faces turn up here. To observe, fly-on-the wall style. After all, the same ordinariness that keeps 'Li' off the radar confers the unobtrusiveness that makes him so good at surveillance. ]

[ Recognition blooms in a two-step: a surprised blink, then a smile. ]
Ah! [ He pops the roll into his mouth, chewing around upturned lips. ] Mr. Peter! Hello!

[ It doesn't particularly trouble him. He knows how to manage his assets and liabilities. Knows too, how to transition the latter into the former. But he reserves that for if the problem manifests itself. So far, it hasn't. Isaak simply has a naturally watchful nature. In turn, Hei's careful not to let that predacious side of him tread too far beyond Li's shell. ]
Mr. Isaak! [ Over his full plate, he beams. His eyes radiate -- appear to radiate -- a boyish good-humor. ] I am, as a matter of fact. The decor is amazing. And the, um, snacks...
[ Well, actions speak louder than words in that case. ]

This bar opening was breaking new ground. Once inside, he felt doubly more so on the matter.]

He made his way inside, admiring the very elligant interior. Reds and golds with low lights? His favorite! It really set the mood. He was interested in meeting the owner of the place. ... But the first place Raikov went to was straight for the food. Socializing could wait. Food was important!
no subject
Uh oh is that who he thinks it is? Yep. That's Raikov. He's never been the runner type, not ever. It was one time. One night. Maybe he won't see him.]

But really, this place was much more to his personal tastes.
Taking a break from making the rounds, Isaak is fortuitously over by the food himself. Not picking at it-- more wondering if there's going to be enough.

Alternately mingling and stepping back to watch the evening proceed, Isaak has been fairly pleased with the turnout. For now, he's making the rounds again, chatting pleasantly with strangers and old friends alike.
"Enjoying your evening?"

With a drink in one hand, Chekov alternates between seat-hopping and discretely snacking his way through enough food to feed a small family. Naturally, he's keeping an eye out for Isaak and anyone else he may know.]
no subject
But, that aside, Isaak is unquestionably pleased to see Chekov here, coming over as soon as he catches sight of him, cutting easily through the crowded main room.]
Glad you made it! [The older man claps him gently on the shoulder.] Not bad, hmm?
