LOG: ONGOING [The Ark]
When; Sept. 29, all day and night!
Rating; PG-13 at most?
Characters; OPEN
Summary; The biggest storm you've ever seen has just broken out across the City. Water everywhere. But don't worry, if you were at the construction site chances are you're on the boat so it's time to get cozy with your neighbors in your new home. Who's 'in charge' you wonder? Well [Bad username or site: tharheblows title= @ livejournal.com] is--as your arkmaster, captain, and host. He's steering that ship into safety for all of you and has only one thing to say to those who've chosen to stay behind in the City: SUCKAS
Log;
[ooc: Here is the log taking place on the ark for all participating characters! Feel free to log whatever you'd like while the ship is at sea weathering the storm. Label threads accordingly for open interaction, group interaction, what have you. And remember, the City is not being washed away (although the view from the ark would be unclear) and network devices will work the same as they always do. Further information on the ark curse can be found here. We hope you all have fun ♥

open; here and there, assault at will!
No? Neither of them? ...There aren't air ducts on this thing, by any chance?

Just calm down. They're either here, or they're probably on another boat. Nobody wouldn't get on a boat when there's going to be a flood. That would be stupid.

Other than the rain, it hasn't been a terribly unpleasant curse, as far as unpleasant curses go. The woman she had been partnered with before boarding--Emma? yes, that was it--had been very sweet, if a bit twitchy. Not that a little twitchiness wasn't warranted in the situation. Would the City really flood? Penny wasn't sure how many of her friends had made it onto the boat; she'd been too busy learning how to apply pitch to check in with everyone.
With the rain coming down, Penny--carrying Babbage and Cabbage in one cage and Doris and her pet pigeon in the other--goes below deck. Doris, being a duck, might not mind the weather, but the other animals don't seem as amused by the torrential rain. In her hurry to collect animals and get to work on the ark, she'd quite forgotten to bring along anything useful... a change of clothes, food. Things like that. No matter. She secures the animals and begins to wander the boat, sopping wet and looking for familiar faces. Chris and Ray stayed behind, but hopefully Doll had made it on with the dogs...

If Penny chances a glance to her right for a moment, she might well see it rise its tail, flick it, then submerge.
And wait.

Having taken to wandering back and forth, counting in her head and other simple, distracting things, Emma locates Penny again as a sort of safeguard; if she can recognize and return to a point of kindness then this isn't so bad. She can handle this.
There are worse things.
Things she does her best to deny, which she is rather effective at.
Far easier, she knows already, to count the lines in the wood. Obsessive, but it's effective in its distraction.
So is Penny, who seems to radiate niceness minus the social handicapping that Emma knows she pens herself into sometimes with her...difficulties. This makes her infinitely more believably approachable of course, which Emma cannot help but take note of both as an admirer and someone admittedly a little envious too.
"Penny for your thoughts?" she asks the girl and pleases herself with how stable her voice sounds, soft as ever but not worse for the wear, which for Emma might as well be impressive.

But she had worries on her mind that she couldn't deal with just by telling herself she'd done the right thing. Biting her lip, Umi turned to gaze back inside where the people gathered. So far? Presea, Clef, Fuu, Hikaru, the Princess, Lantis... But not a trace of... ---she should start asking around for them again. She'd spent the last hour or so talking to strangers, inquiring if they'd seen a tall stern redhead and an athletic brunette with an attitude around. But still, not a trace. Alright, there were lots of people there. It was only natural that not everyone was accounted for, and there were a couple of other people she hadn't found so far. But, still...
Shaking her head, the Water Knight compelled herself to get a grip. She was getting SOAKED out there. Even if it was unlikely for her to catch a cold she didn't want to get her friends worried. Those two were around. They promised. Those two, just like the rest of the people she cared about and hadn't met on board the wooden monster yet. So the best thing she could do for all their sakes was to stop being sick with worry, trust they were alright and try to make herself useful. It wasn't the first nor the last time The City had shoved them straight into a crazy survival situation, right? They'd deal. They always had.
Sending one last glance at the darkened ocean, Umi sighed and stepped inside again.

"Umi," he said, tilting his head in greeting as she passed. Chances are she hadn't noticed him there, seeing as he was so small and quiet.

She thought that was probably why Umi looked upset, being in-tune with the water, but it didn't hurt to ask.

She skips around the boat, peering curiously at everyone and everything, and then sees Uni with a large bag.
While Uni sets her clothes to dry, Zia starts to poke through the bag curiously. Personal property? What's that?]

At the same time, though, he's taken note of his assigned partner's state. So between his visual sweeps of the deck, he glances over. How does one strike up a conversation with a stranger they've been mysteriously likened to under circumstances like these? The best answer he's got is a general, gentle inquiry to make himself available if his newfound companion wants to talk.]

Open;
She has never been one for boats, herself; those are more the province of her father and brother. She is, however, familiar with the dangers that can lurk beneath the waves. She has met sharks before, in her journeys, and perhaps moreso than anyone aboard, she knows the dangers of whales.
She's been swallowed by one once before. It's not an experience she would care to repeat.
But at least the boat seems to be holding up, as cramped as the quarters may be, and it's better that she's here, near her friends and the people she cares about, rather than trying to ride out the storm alone at home.]
Open;
When he finally brings himself to wander cautiously about the deck, though, Rosella is one of the first people he sees. So he walks over, putting on the best smile he can manage at the time.
It's small, and the anxiety is still readily apparent in his expression, but it's an attempt nonetheless.]

All things considered he looks remarkably calm, in part because he's exhausted; helping build seemed like a good idea yesterday, but that was probably just a curse compulsion. Hardly his usual habit.
Well, he's here now. And it looks like it was worth going.]
open but slow;
Even though she's not in it alone, even though she's not actually in the water, being at sea is making her extremely uneasy and it's pretty evident on her face and in her body language. She's sticking below the decks, not looking out the windows, and staying as far as close as she can to the center of the boat. She's tired from working on the ark and gathering supplies the day before, but there is no way she's sleeping and she's too anxious to concentrate on anything else, so whenever she's not sitting in a curled-up ball, she's pacing, trying to rid herself of all the nervous energy pumping through her body. Sometimes she's lying on her back or curling on her side to calm the quaking in her stomach whenever the sea gets particularly rough - Manticore engineered her to withstand a lot of things, but she's not used to it and the anxiety is not treating her well.
She is probably not currently the greatest company, but will welcome the distraction if anyone decides to approach her.

Seeing Max and noting her expression, she makes her way over and puts on a friendly smile. She holds out a large bag she is carrying.]
Hello! Would you like some food? They're mostly sandwiches, but don't worry! My bag is waterproof, and they managed to stay dry.

After all, with this many citizens stuck in one place, it's better to be on one's guard. Ginny had boarded with a gentleman she'd never met before, and though it meant she'd been allowed on the ark, she had still been wary. Now, she's trying to make her way above deck, hoping to find some more familiar faces. Being dry, it turns out, isn't one of her priorities.]

Being busy is as good a distraction as any, when it comes to resolutely trying not to think about Peter and what Peter would do in this situation, but bumping into people and apologizing is starting to take being busy's place. Claire's mouth is tired on 'I'm sorry's and 'excuse me's, and nearly running someone over on her way for a part in the sea of people uses up most of the patience she has left.]
Sorry, but do you think you could - [It's Ginny.] Oh, it's you. [Pause.] Know the quickest way back up top?
