Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

[Chekov invited Tessa to the festival in the hopes that it would be a more entertaining venue than the ones they usually frequent (no offense meant to the Youth Center or the library). It's a little busy, perhaps, but also lively and entertaining.]

[ Tessa's visibly enjoying herself, eyes wide and smiling at this or that. She stands out a little in her usual period dress, but don't mind her, she'll just peer at everything, trying to take it all in. ]

[ This is the first event to take place since Howard arrived in the City, and because he isn't really the social type unless he's in his element, he's wandering around alone, watching others enjoying the fun. ]

Rain wasn't much of a one for big gatherings, but the paper lanterns and just magicalness of it all drew her down from the rooftop perch above the Library to linger on the fringes of the festival.

Mercy really hadn't wanted to come out, so she was mostly here to prove that she could. She wandered a bit with a cold drink in her hand, stopping here and there to look at something in one of the booths or to watch some of the performers/

[Wilson's stopped by during the evening hours after his shift, because he's of the general belief that any bright spot, any attempt to unwind and have some fun in the City is worth latching onto. For everything everyone puts up with here, as bad as things can get, keeping a perspective that lets oneself embrace the good is all the more important.

So he's wandering through, contentedly enough, casually eying the stands and booths as he makes his way around Xanadu.]

[Sam doesn't really want to be here. The City just hasn't been the same since Jess and Mom left. Suddenly, it's less a vacation and more his reality, only with a view of the future which is vague but doesn't seem to be getting better. But he's been dragged along tonight, and without the energy to resist, he goes. And he'll try a few games, a few of the wares.

[It seems a rather charming thing, a spring festival. With no expectations whatever, Cain will sooner or later have to go and see to all this. It's almost a shame he didn't think of setting up a booth for the Turnabout Cafe--next time, perhaps.

He wouldn't mind a seat and some tea at the moment, though--as an excuse to watch the crowd go by as much as anything.

Still, he'll wander through and see what and who might be there to be seen.]

Merlin likes festive things overall, so he's just kind of walking, looking at things and smiling like an idiot and being Happy. So he's not keeping much of an eye on where he's walking so if he runs into you?

[ Sketching at a party isn't, perhaps, the most usual thing to do, but Ariadne has found a bench and is doing it anyway. Anyone who gets a glance at the pages will see that she's drawing the festival itself. ]

[ Elena hasn't been to Xanadu yet. This is her first time. This reminds her of Founders Day back in Mystic Falls - at least the massive town mingling. It also reminds her of the carnival. Horrible things happened during both of those events. Elena isn't used to such simple decision making. Nothing is being held over her head. Nobody here wants her blood.

She recognizes some and approaches them, wanting to be social. She tries a few games, gets a hot dog, a soft pretzel and a lemonade. She also watches a few of the performers.

Elena Gilbert is actually smiling. She's enjoying herself.

But, there's a twinge there under the surface. She misses her family. She misses Jeremy. She misses Caroline and Bonnie. But, she's also happy they aren't here, aren't stuck in another dimension, a concept that is still so absurd. ]

[Raymond's been given the evening off, sure, but even though festivals and the like are usually far from his preferred scene, he'd rather not be too far from Ivy if he can help it. Just in case.

Of course, it's precisely because this isn't his preferred scene that he's wandering around without much interest in the various activities. Perhaps he could do with some bothering.]

[Sephiroth is not in what one might call a "festival mood", but he usually walks his chocobo in the park, and why should today be any different? Chocobos grow rather quickly, and Faremis is already taller than any dog. The black bird is large by almost anyone's estimation, now.

Sephiroth is completely calm as he makes his way through the festival-goers, but the animal accompanying him is clearly excited by all the people and noise--yet it remains obediently at his side, though it makes soft and curious wark-ing noises, brightly regarding everything they pass.

It's good for him to grow accustomed to crowds.]

[Rose is wandering around the festival. She's there with the Doctor with the hair but they both tend to wander so it's not unusual to find her alone. She's buying things from the food stands, trying her hand at games and wide-eyed at the entertainment. Come say hi. She'll be glad to see you.]

[Dean is at the festival because there is food. He's got something on a stick and a beer in hand. He's also there in a somewhat official capacity to make sure people behave. He's going to wander, eat and play some games. Feel free to come up and say hi.]

[There is a very small booth with a stack of brochures offering basic information about the City and about the welcome center and the services they provide for new arrivals as well as people who have been living in the City for some time. Euphie is manning it some of the day, but other volunteers are stopping in as well! Feel free to say hi whether you're a newbie or an oldie. It's also doubling as a welcome center for the festival if anyone needs help finding anything.]

[There are picnic tables for your convenience and a variety of restaurants offering their fare, usually with a price. But you might get lucky at the potluck tables. Share a dish. Savor the experience.]

[ There's a booth selling fish sticks, and Amy is currently eyeing it critically, considering whether to buy a portion, in honour of memories and first meetings. There's no custard, though, and it isn't as though she is the one who likes fish sticks with custard so much.

[ Eames is hardly a performer, so he's mostly watching from the sidelines on a nearby bench. There's a fat dog at his feet, leash held under the sole of one of his shoes so he doesn't go waddling off, though the marshmellow-reenacting corgi looks perfectly fine to just lay down, seemingly exhausted from any previous walking.

[Euphie is smiling and looking around the lantern-lit dance floor. She's so happy how everything came together. She really thought it would be a much smaller thing, but people had been so helpful and encouraging. She might have gotten a little carried away herself, but it was nice just to help with something others could enjoy too. There would be a lot of cleaning up later on, but for right now her thoughts were on the music and who would be her next dance partner. She didn't expect to do a lot of sitting.]

[Actually Eden doesn't really know why she's here - she doesn't really like festivals much, but this one was on her way home from the hospital and so she's wandering through, still in her scrubs, looking over things]

[Whenever there was a festival, he certainly needed to see if anyone of interest was there even if it was briefly. Catching a glimpse of a girl in scrubs no less, he couldn't help but give a small smile to the little reminder of her. A small conversation couldn't hurt. So he approached and joined beside her to generally look at what she's looking at as he began to speak.]
